White Picket Fences
Title: White Picket Fences
Author: vega
Rating: G
Spoilers/Warning: Will make no sense at all if you haven't seen Wasteland.
Summary: A new beginning, the sad kind.
Archiving: MX100.
Note: Mostly because of Vill. A little because of Jesse. A tiny little because I liked the ep. ;)

One night, he appears in her office, unnoticed, unannounced.

"Jesse." She's not surprised. It's as if all these years she's been expecting her former fiancée to reappear. His eyes look older. Tired.

When he collapses, she's barely there to catch him. He melts into her, his head on her lap. She can only hold him, feeling every tremor going through his body that seems tattered from fighting the "good fight" for his kind.

She swallows sudden tears and caresses his cheek. Why come back now? Their beginning has ended a long ago.

And yet...

"White picket fences, Alisha," he murmurs.

Thanks for writing, Vega. *hugs*

I don't understand this much because I haven't watched the ep yet, but I could still see good writing nevertheless. You made a good use for the "beginnings" theme, hon. Great job. :)

Hee, thank you. ;)

To spoil you a little, in this episode Alisha asks Jesse at one point if he has a room for "a wife, white picket fences" in this new life of his (and the answer is an implied "no".) It just struck me. Obviously, I'm easily impressionable. ::dramatic sigh::
