Requiem For The Maybe

Title: Requiem For The Maybe
Author:Revolution
Rating: g
Warnings:--
Spoilers:Third Season
Pairing: Emma/Brennan
Summary: She was nothing more than a ghost and nothing less than the girl she once was.
Archiving: Wherever

Notes: Quote is From Endless Nights, not necessarily a book but a graphic novel.

Everything moved slowly when I saw her. The rain seemed to fall gently, like snowflakes. Standing beneath the street light, its glow creating a ring of light around her crimson hair.

"Emma?" was all that I could say.

She turned slowly and grinned.I tried to say more, to tell her all the things that I should have said before but I couldn't speak. She touched her heart and nodded.

"Good bye, Bren" echoed through my head as she disappeared, nothing more than a ghost, nothing less than the girl she always was.

Brotherly Disclaimer

Brotherly Disclaimer
by vega

Season/Spoiler: Nada
Warning/Pairing: Brennan/Shal, Shal/Jesse
Archive: MX100. Otherwise ask.
Note: I kept writing drabbles so I wouldn't have to write long fic. I can post more than one drabble for each challenge, right?

Quote: "It was a morning like other mornings and yet perfect among mornings." John Steinbeck, The Pearl.

*

For Brennan, it was a morning like other mornings and yet perfect among mornings until Jesse caught him coming out from her room.

Jesse didn't stopped walking, like he didn't want movement to cease. "Congratulations."

"That all?"

"What, you expecting brotherly warnings, Brennan? 'I'll break your legs if you break her heart'?"

"Maybe. You think I'm not good enough for Shalimar?"

"No one's good enough for her."

"I can't give her up, not even for you, Jess."

Jesse finally stopped. "I gave her up. For her."

Brennan watched, silenced, as Jesse walked away.

Suddenly, the morning was far from perfect.

Left Unsaid

Left Unsaid
by vega

Season/Spoiler: S3
Archive: MX100. Others, please ask first?
Pairing: Take a wild guess. I'm such a sap. ;)
Quotation: "The bitterest tears shed over graves are for words left unsaid and deeds left undone." Harriet Beecher Stowe.

***

He died while he was holding her. She could feel his hair under her fingers, breathe his scent. But his blue eyes that meant everything to her remained closed.

She'd seen this coming.

A romanticist like him, he'd die protecting others one day. A pragmatist like her, she'd screw him up for good one day.

Screams. Tears. From Shal. From Brennan.

But not her. She knew the bitterest tears shed over graves are for words left unsaid and deeds left undone.

So she held his body and whispered soft I-love-you's. She kissed him for the first time.

And the last.

***

*pause*

Yes, I'm unbearably soapy and overly melodramatic, I know. But I genuinely believe this possibility.

Poor Jesse. He gets killed (or becomes critically injured) once in two drabbles of mine. ;)

New challenge: Book quotes.

The new challenge is a repeat of the previous challenge, although the only difference is we're now looking for book quotes, not movie quotes. As usual, you have the leeway to put the quote either in the drabble itself, or at the summary. Just make sure a book quote is involved in the creation of your drabble, and you'll be fine. ;)

This will run for two weeks, to give people plenty of time to write their drabbles. I know I myself need more time. *sweatdrop*

Enjoy writing, everyone! :)

Senseless Sensibilities

Title: Senseless Sensibilities
Author: Wynefred (with help from Ylquin)
Rating: PG (for mild language)
Spoilers/Warning: No spoilers.
Archiving: MX100.
Note: This is from "Sense and Sensibility" and the quotes are bolded. This is my first drabble, and my first attempt at a fic since high-school, so please be gentle.

"Where the hell is she?" Brennan bellowed.

Jesse's calm voice came from behind the computer screen, "I think we can all guess where she went."

She'd been out on another personal mission. Took off in the Helix without a word to anyone. By the time she strolled boldly into Sanctuary, Brennan had worked himself into a frenzy.

"Lexa!" She stopped, obviously annoyed at his furious tone.

"You promised you wouldn't use the Helix for your personal vendettas anymore!"

"I never said anything so irrational. I suggest you get your facts straight, Sparky."

She slipped smugly past him into her office.

ETA: Drabbles are much harder to write than they look!

There was only one thing that could take away his pain.

And she appeared right in front of him.

All seriousness, he kneeled in front of her.

"In vain have I struggled, it will not do," he said, in anguish. "You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you."

Shalimar blinked several times, stared at him for a moment, then took a long breath.

"Who gave Brennan beer and Pride and Prejudice!" she bellowed.

From afar, Jesse and Lexa snickered.

**

I expect Lexa to echo away, "Well, he's tolerable, I suppose, but he's not handsome enough to tempt me."

But that's only my projection.

Ahem.

...Sleep first, replies later.

Write a drabble that has a movie quote in it. Not necessarily in the dialogue, it could be in the narration, etc. Try to include the name of the movie where the movie quote came from in the drabble's summary, ok? ;)

As usual, the challenge runs for a week. So go write!!!

This is for the beginnings challenge. My first drabble, don't know how good it is. Plus its a tiny bit more than 100 words.

"Are you Emma?"

She turns from the scene in front of her to see a small, slender girl dressed all in black.

"Yes," she whispers "and you are not what I was expecting."

"I get that a lot," the girl laughs as she sticks her hands in her pockets.

"Are they going to be all right?"

"No, not at first," the girl exclaims, ”They all love you and this is going hurt them more than they will ever be able to admit.”

"What happens to me now?" she whispers, her voice thick with emotion.

"We got big plans for you, This is not the end. A little because of Jesse. A tiny little because I liked the ep. ;)

One night, he appears in her office, unnoticed, unannounced.

"Jesse." She's not surprised. It's as if all these years she's been expecting her former fiancée to reappear. His eyes look older. Tired.

When he collapses, she's barely there to catch him. He melts into her, his head on her lap. She can only hold him, feeling every tremor going through his body that seems tattered from fighting the "good fight" for his kind.

She swallows sudden tears and caresses his cheek. Why come back now? Their beginning has ended a long ago.

And yet...

"White picket fences, Alisha," he murmurs.

Ashley won't be online for awhile, so I came up with a challenge for this week myself. :)

The challenge for this week deals with Beginnings. The drabble doesn't need to use the word "beginning" in it, just make sure the theme of the drabble deals with the said word.

As usual, the challenge will run for a week, so you all have plenty of time to write. Do post drabbles, guys. I'd love to read what you've all come up with. :)

Villanelle

Yet Brennan and Jesse just smiled as they watched her baking.

Later, Emma smiled at the sight of the cake on the table. Shalimar returned her smile, until she spied the empty bag of Easy Cake Mix that Jesse gave her on the garbage can. The flavor on the label made her heart stop.

I’m gonna kill those boys, Shalimar fumed. Next to her, Emma said faintly, “It’s pineapple.”

Your breathe comes out sharply as you try vainly to keep him away from it’s core, yet he’s always been stubborn, as he seeks them out, almost blindly. Finally, you decide to grant him deliverance; you charge up and ruthlessly translate your passion through a kiss. He shudders, yet his blue eyes stare you down, and you realize the beauty of sparks on water, of current against current, of the thrill dancing its release on control, of heat warmer than blood.

You're at their mercy, but now, No one can hear you cry.
Title: Fear
Author: Villanelle
Rating: PG
Spoilers: Into The Moonless Night. Slightly AU.
Pairing: None.
Summary: Well you're an outlaw just the same/And every night a bullet wears your name. Silva’s thoughts in Into the Moonless Night.
Archiving: MX100, PureMX, The Sanctuary Garden. Anywhere else, please ask.

Notes: This is entirely bluerose’s fault. She’s been writing way too much Silva, and has influenced me. *blush* This drabble is written for the mx100 Bon Jovi challenge, and was inspired by the lyrics from the song "Billy Get Your Guns". The exact line from the song is in the summary.

Fear
by Villanelle

Fevered dreams haunt him, thoughts of victory, of Eckhart’s inscrutable face, of pain he creates, pain spurned from his imagination, pain he never feels.

He languishes in these dreams, but lately, the trek to the pinnacle of ache seem to take a disturbing path. He starts seeing images of himself giving everything and failing. Of a nameless face, watching himself being torn apart, the excruciating sting, destroying him. Then, he would wake up.

Fear is the worst pain imaginable, he shudders, wanting to learn more about the mysterious face, yet too scared to go back to sleep and find out.

Bon Jovi Challenge Entry: The Field of Fire

Title: The Field of Fire
Author: vega
Rating: PG
Spoilers: None. Vaguely AU.
Pairing: Jesse/Shalimar
Summary: "He's always been a step behind her, no complaints."
Archiving: Yep.

Notes: My first post in GJ *and* MX100. Yay me. It's written for the Bon Jovi Challenge, and the lines of the song "The Field of Fire" in use are noted in bold.

Drabble:

She's never really taken notice of his back. He's been taller, yes, but has he always been this tall? He couldn't have overgrown the years this fast. Couldn't have.

Could he?

Through the years one thing hasn't changed. He's always been a step behind her, no complaints. He would step forward only to play the shield for them. For her. She's been watching his back for all her life, yet she's never noticed.

You realize this only now, she thinks. Only now that he's falling, in the field of fire and broken glasses.

Shalimar, you're the biggest fool of all.
